From the blurb on the front flap: "A history of the Lutheran Church in Ohio from settlement at the turn of the nineteenth century through World War I ..." It places the history of the church in the context of the issues of the time, including "matters of language, doctrine, and forms of worship." Allbeck was a Professor of Historical Theology in Wittenberg University's Hamma School of Theology.
